Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet – Shade 18 It’s Redding Men – Hate the name, love the shade. It’s my current jam when it comes to a statement lip. I love the texture of these Bourjois liquid lipsticks, comfortable to wear and not drying at all. This is really flattering raspberry red shade and I can’t get enough of it.
Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Prismatic Amethyst – Despite claiming I was going to stop at one when I bought Moonstone, I’ve gone on to buy three Becca highlighters, oops. I never wear blush at all these days now because I’ve developed some redness on my face that never used to be there and blush just seems to emphasise it. However, highlighter really draws the attention away to my cheek bones (I happen to have been blessed with good cheek bones – if I do say so myself). It’s a really interesting colour – duochrome lilac and gold. It’s very subtle and you can only really notice it when it catches the light but I think it adds a bit of interest and works really nicely with a red lip.
Tarte Maneater Palette (Limited Edition) – I’m not reaching for eyeshadow that much right now as I’m having a lips moment, but if I do then it’s this palette. I love everything about it. Its size, the shades, the texture, the fact it’s got a large highlight shade, the fact it’s convenient for travelling and that Tarte are a cruelty free brand. I’m especially enjoying the shade Foxy (which is handily the only shade out of shot above – amateur moves there Emma).
Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer – This concealer is life. If you have as little sleep as I do and are over 35 with lines around the eyes then this product will be total game changer. It covers dark circles whilst illuminating but doesn’t settle into the lines. I often just fill in my brows and swipe a bit of this under my eyes and leave it there. I think I’m going to need to purchase a summer shade soon as this shade (Vanilla) is starting to become a little on the light side.
Neal’s Yard Rose and Geranium Deodorant – A few months back I decided enough was enough when it came to “drugstore” deodorants. I’ve always hated the chemically scents, they always leave yellow stains on my clothes and also despite trying a few of the heavier duty ones like Mitchum, I never really felt they did a great job. So after experimenting with a few options, I’m now using a combination of Perspirex once or twice a week (a seriously heavy duty anti-perspirant) and then a daily deodorant on top. This is my current favourite and I’ll definitely repurchase. I always feel fresh, never have that weird chemical smell and no yellowed underarms on my clothes!
Dr Organic Virgin Coconut Oil Lipbalm – Like with the deodorant, a while back I decided to stop buying bog standard lip balms from Boots that were petroleum based as they weren’t really cutting it. I was suffering from really dry lips over the winter and after trying a few different ones this is the one I’m currently loving. I genuinely feel like it softens my lips rather than just coating them in a greasy layer. Plus point is that it’s organic and vegan friendly.
Lily Lolo Mineral Foundation – This is a real throw back to about 8 years ago when this was all I ever used. I’ve been looking for a cruelty free alternative to my beloved Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation that I’ve used for years and came across this brand whilst scrolling social media. I hadn’t heard of them for years so I was so pleasantly surprised to discover that they’re still around and straight away ordered a bunch of sample sized foundation shades to try. These days I’m not looking for super high coverage as it doesn’t suit my more mature skin. This mineral foundation (especially if used with a primer) gives such a natural finish. It’s honestly undetectable. Coverage is on the lighter side of medium but is just enough to give confidence. I can’t recommend this brand highly enough, please go check them out. (I’ve ordered an illuminating finishing powder too which I think will be great for summer)
Alexander McQueen Eau De Parfum – I’m not a perfume connoiseaur by any means. I first smelt this fragrance on one of those little testers stuck to a magazine advert and I loved it. I asked for it for Christmas which was a gamble as usually I like to get a sample and wear for the whole day to see how it settles, but luckily I adore this. I wear it most days, I don’t have have day and night scents (who am I kidding, I don’t have an evening social life!). The notes are Jasmine, Tuberose and Ylang Ylang. I think it’s a pretty, feminine scent without being overtly floral.
